Plagiarism in your fandom
Apr. 30th, 2005 06:02 amHi, you don't know me, I don't know you. I'm not a fan of this pairing (and until a few hours ago, I'd never even heard of Teen Titans). The only reason I'm here is because an author here has plagiarized a story of mine.
My story, "Her Silent Tears" ( http://adultfan.nexcess.net/aff/story.php?no=33434 ) was written August 15th last year. It is Draco/Hermione from Harry Potter, and I'm very proud of the story. Its my pride and joy.
Now, this "author", Darknessitself (
nightgoddes - http://www.fanfiction.net/u/778910/) took it, changed the names and various words to make it fit your fandom and the pairing. She also changed the title. You might know it as "Silent Tears".
The summary for the story ("When are you going to stop crying?" "When are you going to let me go?") is also taken from me.
Now, I myself haven't read this story because I was in the hospital while this was found out by a Draco/Hermione fan and when I got back (much earlier today - my time) the story (and the rest of Darknessitselfs stories) had been taken down from ff.net. However, the person who alerted me to this assured me that it was taken pretty much word for word. If you don't believe me, and you've read "Silent Tears" (here is where it was first posted in this community), feel more than free to read "Her Silent Tears". You'll see for yourself.
I wanted to inform you of this because well, its my story. I don't want it to be swept under the rug just because I and the person stealing my story aren't in the same fandom.
I've contacted the "author" (I'm afraid I wasn't very nice about it though) but again, I wanted to inform the rest of you as well. Some of you have read that story, and liked it (from what I've gathered) and I think you all deserve to know the truth. Plus, again, its my pride and joy. I don't want to see anyone else take any credit for something I wrote.
Also, I would love it if, if anyone knows of places other than on ff.net where this fic has been posted let me know so that I can contact the site and have them remove it.

ps. The reason as to why I'm not filling out the Members Form before I'm making this first post is because well, I'm not going to be around here for long, and I'm again not a fan so it'd be pretty useless.
