[identity profile] the-agent-x.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] robin_raven
Hello. I've just joined this community, and am rather new to Live Journal. So, I have no idea how this is supposed to work. I've never really posted anything before, but would like to put up a fic. Is anyone able to instruct me on this account? Regardless, thank you for reading, and sorry for taking up your time.

Welcome to the community!

Posting fic is easy enough. Use this basic template for the top portion:

Title:
Genre:
Pairings:
Summary:
Notes:

That helps everyone to know the basics of the fic so they know if it will be something that interests them. Afterwards you can just copy/paste the fic directly below it inside of an LJ-cut or you can post a link to an outside source that hosts your fic such as fanfiction.net.

How to do an Lj-cut:

If you have any other questions just feel free to ask :3

Theirs is technically an lj-cut, however its a cut that was done on their own journal. The cut will put it in your entry here on the community, but will place it behind the link so that it doesnt stretch the page and kill people's friends pages. You can link to a cut on a different journal like they did if you want. Alot of people do that so that they can keep all their fanfics together on one journal so that feedback isnt scattered around through the various places they post it. I do the same thing with my stories (when I bother writing ^.^;;) and post the links to the entries on my fanfic community.

When you create the entry, at the top of the entry page there is a spot for you to choose where your posting it. Make sure that this community is chosen first or it wont go here. I have the community set up for the pages to always be in the layout style, so those white pages wont show up because of the layout settings I use.

For an outside link (such as to fanfiction.net or to link it from a post in your journal to here) you use a different coding.

Another option that might be easier on you (but is annoying to me personally probably because I know all the tags) is to use the rich text editor when you post. With that you cant use your own tags like the ones I have shown you because it will do them for you. Up at the top you tell it what link you want to link to and type the name and it will do the coding from the textbox above for you. It will also give you a lightly colored box if you choose the LJcut and whatever you want inside that box you just type in there and it does all the hardstuff for you. I find it annoying mostly because I hate their tempermental formatting and the whole thing is buggy to me, but thats just my opinion. I know people who swear by it.
